Greetings from sunny Australia! I’m Josephine, originally from Germany but lucky enough to call Australia home since 2011. The stunning landscapes, vibrant communities, and endless inspiration I’ve found here have completely transformed my journey as a photographer. Every day, I get to wake up and do what I love, creating lasting memories for amazing people like you.
In Germany, life felt like a relentless hustle, where work consumed my time and left little room for true happiness. I knew I wanted something more—space to create, connect, and find purpose. Moving to Australia was my leap of faith, and it led me to establish Josephine Carter Photography. More than a business, it’s my passion and purpose. With every photo, I aim to capture stories filled with warmth and authenticity, each frame a testament to the beauty in life’s moments.

For me, photography is more than capturing an image; it’s about creating a story that feels authentic and alive. My style is rooted in a love for natural, timeless, and cinematic imagery, with a focus on capturing genuine emotions and candid moments. From scouting breathtaking locations to the joy of capturing unscripted expressions, every part of the process is fulfilling.
I tailor each session to bring my client’s vision to life, whether it’s a romantic, dreamlike feel or a bold, modern look. Seeing my clients light up when they view their images for the first time—that spark of joy—is what I work for. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wonderful variety of clients, from brand owners and entrepreneurs to couples and families. Some of my most cherished projects have been collaborations with local Queensland brands, helping them tell their stories through imagery that truly resonates. My work has also taken me beyond Australia, with projects in Germany, Indonesia, and even New York, giving me the chance to connect with people and stories around the world.
While my base is in Townsville, I’m always ready to travel to capture your unique story, wherever it may take us. What Inspires Me
I find inspiration everywhere—the magic of natural light, the beauty in everyday moments, and, most of all, the incredible people I meet. Each person I encounter brings their own unique story, influencing how I see the world through my lens. I’m drawn to locations rich in natural beauty, from peaceful beaches to vibrant cityscapes, each offering a special backdrop for capturing these stories. For me, photography isn’t just a job—it’s a way to connect with people and bring out the beauty and stories waiting to be told.
My Philosophy
Life's like a big puzzle, and I'm all about seeing it in a positive light. I believe that everything we go through teaches us something valuable. My choices shape my journey, and what I get out of life is often what I put into it.
When things get tough, I choose to stay hopeful. Sometimes, we can't change a situation, but we can accept them and focus on finding the good in it. Loving and trusting ourselves is key. When we treat ourselves well, We are better able to treat others the same way.
My motto is simple: treat others how I want to be treated. Kindness and understanding can make a big difference in someone's day. So embrace each day with love, openness, and a positive outlook, making our journey through life as bright and fulfilling as possible.
