My Story

Greetings from sunny Australia! I’m Josephine, originally from Germany but lucky enough to call Australia home since 2011. The stunning landscapes, vibrant communities, and endless inspiration I’ve found here have completely transformed my journey as a photographer. Every day, I get to wake up and do what I love, creating lasting memories for amazing people like you. In Germany, life felt like a relentless hustle, where work consumed my time and left little room for true happiness.

I knew I wanted something more space to create, connect, and find purpose. Moving to Australia was my leap of faith, and it led me to establish Josephine Carter Photography. More than a business, it’s my passion and purpose. With every photo, I aim to capture stories filled with warmth and authenticity, each frame a testament to the beauty in life’s moments.

What Drives My Photography


My photography goes beyond capturing moments; it’s about revealing the innate beauty in each client, often to their own surprise. Clients frequently express amazement at how beautifully I capture their essence, helping them see the beauty within themselves that they may not have recognized before. This deep connection and appreciation for their uniqueness is what truly drives my work.

Furthermore, if a client brings a passion to the session, it becomes my passion too. I immerse myself in understanding and reflecting their interests and style in the photos. My Photographic Journey

With over 12 years of experience, my career as a photographer has been both enriching and successful. I've worked my way up here in Townsville, earning recognition and respect within the community. Being featured in Frankie Magazine stands out as a significant achievement, affirming my creative direction and the impact of my work.

Notable Highlights: My photographs have appeared in prestigious publications like Australian Vogue and other Magazines, enhancing my portfolio with high-profile exposure. Locally, I've contributed to magazines like PakMag ( and much more )  which has deepened my connections and visibility in the community.

Mentoring and Success: One of my proudest achievements is the role I play in mentoring aspiring photographers. It's incredibly rewarding when fellow photographers seek me out to learn the business side of photography, seeing me as a source of knowledge and inspiration.

Global Exposure and Client Joy: My partnership with Picfair has extended my reach globally,  Honestly, I've never been one for competitions. For me, the greatest reward is my client's happiness. That's my big win, so you won't find any winner badges in my portfolio. My focus is on delivering joy and satisfaction through my photography, which I believe speaks for itself.ο»Ώ

My Philosophy

Life's like a big puzzle, and I'm all about seeing it in a positive light. I believe that everything we go through teaches us something valuable. My choices shape my journey, and what I get out of life is often what I put into it.

When things get tough, I choose to stay hopeful. Sometimes, we can't change a situation, but we can accept them and focus on finding the good in it. Loving and trusting ourselves is key. When we treat ourselves well, We are better able to treat others the same way.

My motto is simple: treat others how I want to be treated. Kindness and understanding can make a big difference in someone's day. So embrace each day with love, openness, and a positive outlook, making our journey through life as bright and fulfilling as possible.

Fun Facts about me


My Sausage Dog Thinks He’s My Husband :  He’s tiny, dramatic, and extremely jealous. If I hug someone else, I get the look or a bite.

I’m a Bit of a Health Nut : I love cooking and obsessing over what’s good for the body… but also, I will eat a ridiculous amount of cheese without hesitation. Balance, right?

I Give the Best Advice : Probably because I’ve had my fair share of problems. Someone once told me, “People with the most issues give the best advice.” So take notes!

Photography is My ‘Hobby’ :  Which is hilarious because it’s also my job. But if I had to pick a hobby outside of photography… nope, still photography.

Spaghetti is My Love Language :  Give me a big plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce and an unreasonable amount of cheese, and I will love you forever.

I Dream of a Big Garden & my own House :  One day, I’ll have my own veggie and herb garden and my own house . Until then, I just aggressively admire other people’s lives.
